How long until my pet's vision improves with Trusopt for eye pressure?

I would expect if there was to be improvement from the medications she is on the pressures would decrease with in 5-7 days. If they are still high then I would get to a Veterinary ophthalmologist as soon as you can to try to save vision in the eyes. Sadly sometimes vision can not be saved, but hopefully they can make her eyes more comfortable by draining some of the fluid from the eye. If she was my dog I would see the specialist as soon as you can get an appointment! I hope this helps and I wish Jersey a speedy recovery!

However, this may change depending on the severity of the glaucoma and clinical results achieved. I would defer to your veterinarian for dosing protocols and instructions.

Given your description, I would absolutely have Copper seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye) is incredibly painful and requires emergency treatment. Your veterinarian will be able to examine Copper and measure the pressures inside his eyes to determine what sort of therapy he needs. If addressed quickly, there is a chance of regaining vision. If left untreated, Copper will become irreversibly blind. I hope this is helpful!

No- they are not working against each other and no- the Optimune did not cause it. The Optimmune increases the body's tear production which keeps the clear part of the eye-the cornea- moist. If it gets dry- it suspectible to injuries & gets secondary changes. Glaucoma is caused by increase pressure in the vitreous (the ball part of the eye) which is different than the tears. The tears are external and the vitreous internal. Hope that makes sense. Sounds like you have a great vet who is treating Lanie well! If an opthalmologist has evaluated Bella and reports that there is nothing to be done, then I suspect that Bella has something wrong with her retinas. My dog has progressive retinal atrophy and has been blind for a couple of years. I went to 2 opthalmologists just to make sure of the diagnosis, so you can certainly get another opinion from another ophthalmologist just to be sure. Unfortunately, we do not have any treatment for diseases of the retina, so we are left with a blind dog. Fortunately, blind dogs do great and can have a great quality of life. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Lily! I would expect a dog to be much better pain wise with in 3-5 days. As for back to normal, that depends. If Lily did see some light (hard for us to ever know) it could take her weeks to months to feel normal. I had a dog once who we thought was completely blind have both eyes removed and he was depressed for months. I think he saw more than we knew. If she is comfortable, eating, etc then give her time to adjust to a complete life of darkness. I wish you the best

I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with Scooter. Glaucoma is a horrible condition but it has to be diagnosed carefully. Usually it is suspected based on signs such as enlarged hard eyes, and then confirmed with a special pen that checks the pressure. It is really important with glaucoma to check the back of the eye with an ophthalmoacope to see if the retina is damaged. I would urge you not to try and treat this yourself. Number 1 it may not be glaucoma and you could do damage by giving the wrong meds or by omitting the correct ones. Number 2 if it is glaucoma treatment is multifaceted depending on severity. Even if funds are tight you need to find a way to get him to a vet for a proper examination. I hope you manage and in the mean time you could use lubricating eye gel to make the eyes slightly more comfortable.
