When should I give a second glycerin dose for my pet's glaucoma?

If he is WORSE have him rechecked now or if he is not better in 36-48 hours I would have him rechecked! I hope this helps and I wish Gunnar a speedy recovery!

I would follow the instructions - it sounds like your vet wants one medication (I'd guess Ofloxacin) to be given more frequently. Although it says every 8 hours you can plan to do it three times a day spread over waking hours. You will need to wait 10 minutes in the morning and evening to maximize absorption.

Hello, thank you for your question about Kavi. Overall I would say the need for preventative medication in the other eye is somewhat dependent on what the underlying cause of the glaucoma was. Additionally, taking it to account the current pressure in his remaining eye would be important in deciding the need for these ocular medications. If the pressure is high normal or has been trending upward, I think these medications are beneficial. If you would like more information or would like more information about the underlying cause/current pressure in his eye you could get a second opinion from another veterinarian. I would expect if there was to be improvement from the medications she is on the pressures would decrease with in 5-7 days. If they are still high then I would get to a Veterinary ophthalmologist as soon as you can to try to save vision in the eyes. Sadly sometimes vision can not be saved, but hopefully they can make her eyes more comfortable by draining some of the fluid from the eye. If she was my dog I would see the specialist as soon as you can get an appointment! I hope this helps and I wish Jersey a speedy recovery!

The general answer to your question is yes. The caveats are that Timolol comes in 2 different strengths, so you need to make sure that the combination product is the same strength that he is currently gettting. The other thing you need to discuss with your veterinarian is that since he is getting Dorzolamide 3 times a day and Timolol only twice daily is if you will still need to keep a separate bottle of Dorzolamide for the 3rd daily dosing. Without knowing what the medication that was used and not knowing what the diagnosis was from your previous vet, it is difficult to guide you in the right direction. However, if the eyes were treated with an antibiotic and cleared up but are still accumulating thick material, I would recheck with the veterinarian and have the eyes checked for dry eye to see if this is the primary problem. Life long medication is needed if the eyes are diagnosed with dry eye. I hope this helps!
