My dog is sick, hard to breathe, weak, pale, swollen eyes. What to do?

These signs are very concerning. It sounds as though your dog is suffering from a condition affecting her respiratory system. This may be caused by a bacterial or viral infection, especially if it is affecting the pups as well. She needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Consider keeping her separated from the puppies until she can be seen by a vet. You may want to schedule an appointment for the puppies as well.

These signs seem to be related with an upper respiratory tract infection/inflammation and possibly to a severe form of rhinitis (infective, allergic or inflammatory). The eye signs may be secondary to the upper respiratory tract problem. An immediate check up is required to confirm this clinical suspicion and give appropriate treatment. Breathing from the mouth is very concerning and is a sign of possible heart disease or failure, and this unfortunately is common in Honey's breed and at her age. It is hard to tell from the picture, but if the facial swelling is of the skin and is around the eyes and the muzzle, this could be a bug bite and you can try an anti-histamine. You have to be careful with human drugs as any product with a 'non-drowsy' can be very toxic and fatal in dogs. I would suggest calling your local emergency clinic or vet to get information on over the counter drugs available in your area. Benedryl and Reactine can be used, but you have to make sure it is the right version without pseudoephedrine. If Honey is unable to breath, seems distressed, or if her tongue looks blue at all, then you need to get her to a vet right away. Best of luck with Honey, I hope she feels better soon.

Poor pup! It sounds like he has a severe respiratory infection, and I would take him into the vet right away. It's quite serious that he is struggling to breath, and he could go into respiratory distress if he can't breath well. He may need a decongestant to help him breath better, which can be prescribed by a vet. Please take him into one now.

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Poor Mimi! She could have some internal injury and bleeding going on. It is possible if she is not urinating that she may have a ruptured bladder. If possible, she needs to have Xrays taken of her abdomen at a vet clinic to see if there is internal bleeding and damage. If so, she may need to have surgery. If this is not possible, she needs to be on antibiotics and pain medication at a bare minimum. Hope that helps!

Oh no, poor Ruffus! From your picture, it looks like he is quite ill. I see significant discharge from his eye, and that mucus from his nose is quite thick. He could be suffering from a severe respiratory infection causing his symptoms. If he's breathing through his mouth, then it is likely because he is very congested. Ruffus could also have an eye infection causing the discharge, and any problem with the eye should be considered an emergency because it's such an important and delicate structure. He does need to see a vet immediately for these symptoms so he can be treated. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
