Dog's eye bloody after dental cleaning and tooth removal surgery?

Watch for any squinting of the eye. Could be a side effect of anesthesia. Their eyes have ointment put into them for anesthesia because they do not close their eyes when sedated and they can dry out. They could have gotten dry. If you have any saline eye drops or artificial tears you could try that today and then call your vet when they are open again

It is possible that Poppet's eye issue could be related to dry eyes while under anesthesia, or she may have developed a corneal ulcer/abrasion incidentally. Since eyes are such delicate structures, I would recommend taking Poppet back to her vet for evaluation sooner rather than later. Be sure that she is wearing an e-collar (cone) until you can take her to the vet to prevent Poppet from scratching or rubbing her eye, as this could worsen any existing issue. Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Lucy. This is a subconjunctival hemorrhage of the sclera of the eyes. This means that some blood vessels in the white part of the eye (sclera) have ruptured. This can be secondary to trauma or too much pressure on the neck. I would contact the veterinary hospital that did the vaccines and ask them how well did she tolerate the visit or did she need lots of restraining. I would also question the place where she had her nails done. I would ask the same thing. It is possible that she suffered some trauma at the dog park but I'm skeptical about this. Looks like it's from restraining her for some procedures. Good luck

A broken vessel in an eye can be caused by a few different things including trauma, infection, high blood pressure, etc. If the eye is otherwise not injured then either the stress of being in hospital caused Sascha's blood pressure to increase and she burst a vessel (if she is a stressed dog), or she might have had a bit of a trauma during the dental, as sometimes you have to hold their head still while doing extractions. Even with the most gentle and carefully performed dental procedure, this can happen, as those vessels can burst with a small amount of pressure, and you need to put a bit of pressure on the head to support it to properly and safely remove the tooth. You can always ask your vet as well. As long as Sascha isn't squinting, and can see ok, it will heal up with time. Best of luck with Sascha.

Hello. It looks like an infection or some inflammation has become seated in the tissues under that eye. It is impossible to say if it has anything to do with the dentistry, but comparing the 2nd photo to the first, it does look like the swelling has gone down a bit. If the swelling does not seem to be bothering Penny at all, I would first try just applying a very warm compress to the swelling 2-3 times a day for 10 minutes at a time. Poor Bree! I recommend to call the veterinarian and tell them what you are seeing. The best way to provide the best care for Bree is to keep the veterinarian in the loop and have her examined anytime something seems different. The doctor may want to see Bree again to be safe. This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions.
