Dog's eye red with pus after facial abscess surgery. Is it normal?

I believe this is likely a tooth root abscess which could explain why it got better initially and now he worsen again as the main issue such as what is causing the abscess needs to be addressed as well. If it is an abscess, it should resolve once the antibiotics start to take effect in a day or two. Another possibility is a seroma, which is simply caused by the fluid that is filling the space where the eye once was. This fluid should also decrease in a few days. Wiping gently to help keep the area clean is a good idea, as long as Pearl doesn't seem bothered by the gentle wiping. If the skin where the fluid drips starts to look irritated, you can use a thin layer of vaseline to keep the draining fluid off of the skin. The amount that actually gets to her mouth is gross to us, but it isn't harmful and she probably isn't bothered by it too much.

I recommend calling your veterinarian. When pets do not respond to treatment as expected, that can mean that the real reason for the illness was not discovered. I suspect the veterinarian will need to examined Aura again and check for a foreign object trapped under the eye lid or uveitis. Call the vet today. Best of luck.

Bleu has such pretty eyes!! I would recommend a recheck with your vet now that some of the swelling and redness has resolved. There may be something additional going on that needs to be addressed, or perhaps she needs to receive a different type of eye drops. Be sure and ask your veterinarian to take a close look at Bleu’s eyelids-sometimes, especially in young growing dogs, the lower (and occasionally upper) eyelid can roll onwards and irritate the surface of the eye-This is called entropion and can require surgery to correct. I hope you are able to get Bleu’s eye redness resolved soon!

You'll need to have Missy examined by your veterinarian. It may be local infection that abscessed or it may be a tooth root abscess. She may need to have it lanced, drained and flushed or she may need a complete dental cleaning and possibly an extraction. Antibiotics and pain management will likely be required as well. This is probably not something that can be treated at home nor will it heal on its own.

I'm sorry to hear about Libby's eye, I'm sure that is quite disturbing for you! Blood in the eye can have many possible causes. There may be an infection, or some sort of trauma that has occurred. Given the recent dental cleaning and extraction I would be concerned that this may be a complication of the procedure. I would recommend calling your veterinarian tomorrow to schedule a recheck. Your vet will be able to do a thorough physical exam, look in Libby's eyes and mouth, and give you a better idea of what is going on for her. Monitor Libby carefully tonight to make sure that she is not developing other symptoms (such as lethargy, or bleeding from other places), and that she is not rubbing and bothering at the eye. If she starts to bother at it she needs to wear an ecollar/plastic cone until your vet can look at her.

From the photo, it does look like there is a slight reduction in the swelling but this seems like a slower response than expected. Keep in mind every pet is different and every pet responds differently but I recommend to call your veterinarian. Ask about sending in the photos and describe what you are seeing.
