Why is my dog's eye bloody and puffy after vet visit and nail trim?

Without seeing your dog in person we cannot say for certain, but it is possible that this could be a subconjunctival hemorrage. It can be a result of hypertension (elevated blood pressure), trauma, coagulopathy (blood clotting disorder). Usually this goes away on its own eventually, but if he is acting uncomfortable then a vet visit it best. They can test your dog's blood pressure, and be sure there are no signs of a bleeding disorder, and give pain medication if needed to make him more comfortable.

You should certainly discuss this with your groomer, but I have seen this injury after grooming when a noose is used to stabilize the dog on the table, and either the dog struggles or the noose is too tight, causing the whites of the eyes to become severely blood shot. If the pressure around the neck is too tight, dogs can even experience symptoms of strangulation, including fluid in the lungs.

I'm sorry to hear about Libby's eye, I'm sure that is quite disturbing for you! Blood in the eye can have many possible causes. There may be an infection, or some sort of trauma that has occurred. Given the recent dental cleaning and extraction I would be concerned that this may be a complication of the procedure. I would recommend calling your veterinarian tomorrow to schedule a recheck. Your vet will be able to do a thorough physical exam, look in Libby's eyes and mouth, and give you a better idea of what is going on for her. Monitor Libby carefully tonight to make sure that she is not developing other symptoms (such as lethargy, or bleeding from other places), and that she is not rubbing and bothering at the eye. If she starts to bother at it she needs to wear an ecollar/plastic cone until your vet can look at her.

Judging by the picture it looks as if Pompeu has a burst blood vessel in his eye. This usually occurs from increased pressure in the eye or some type of injury or trauma. With time the blood will go away and there is nothing you need to do for the eye. If you notice any discharge, your dog is holding the eye closed, or if the eye seems swollen at all, then I would recommend you taking him into see the vet. This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. This is possibly related to the anesthesia he received yesterday. I recommend that you have Bubba evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. A broken vessel in an eye can be caused by a few different things including trauma, infection, high blood pressure, etc. If the eye is otherwise not injured then either the stress of being in hospital caused Sascha's blood pressure to increase and she burst a vessel (if she is a stressed dog), or she might have had a bit of a trauma during the dental, as sometimes you have to hold their head still while doing extractions. Even with the most gentle and carefully performed dental procedure, this can happen, as those vessels can burst with a small amount of pressure, and you need to put a bit of pressure on the head to support it to properly and safely remove the tooth. You can always ask your vet as well. As long as Sascha isn't squinting, and can see ok, it will heal up with time. Best of luck with Sascha.

I would recommend taking Princess in for a veterinary exam. Eyes tend to heal quickly or get bad quickly. The one picture looks similar to a scleral hematoma, but the other picture looks like something is going on in the cornea. The cornea can be an emergency situation if there is an ulcer present. The veterinarian will do some diagnostics like an eye stain and prescribe appropriate medications for her. Eye injuries are painful, so she might need pain meds.
