The eyes can get irritated while under anesthesia as your dog is not blinking, and most vets will put a cream in the eyes to help keep them moistened during this process. This can often make the eyes goopier or tearier than normal in addition to the affects of anesthesia wearing off. I would keep an eye on the eyes, and use a clean washcloth to gently remove any debris. If they do not return to normal, the discharge changes color, or they are very bothersome, then having your vet take a look is best.
