Antibiotics are designed to kill bacteria. Probiotics are good bacteria for the gut. If given together, the antibiotics will inactivate the probiotics. The timing of the fish oil does not matter. Hi there. You can give the Metrolag, Doxycycline and the Prednisone at the same time. There is no problem with that. The Maalox is the one to keep separate. I would give the Maalox one hour AFTER giving the other medications. If possible you should give Chiyo a probiotic as well. All those antibiotics are going to disrupt the normal population of bacteria in his intestines which may cause additional issues. I don't know what products are available in Lebanon so you may want to call your vet and ask about getting a probiotic. Hello. We definitely do not want to give antibiotics if they are not necessary. Since I do not know what antibiotic your vet prescribed, or what her thinking was, I would follow her directions. Continue the probiotic & then see if Mikey starts to become regular again. If he had a bit of a bacterial infection going on, even a few days of antibiotics can be helpful, but it can take a day or so for the intestines to get back into their regular routine. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Ideally I think you should again wait 2 hour after the maalox of any other oral medications. It could decrease the absorption. Or you can give the prednisone and the granudoxy together and 2 hours later give the maalox. I hope this helps!
