Is Diamond Naturals dry dog food safe? What can I add to soften it?

I would not add chicken soup to her food as there is a lot of salt in the broth. You can add canned dog food to her diet for variety. I recommend using the same brand as the dry dog food you are feeding. Safe human foods are boiled chicken and boiled beef but canned dog food has the proper balance of vitamins and minerals. I would advise to only add one at a time (ie...one day its peas, another day chicken, another day carrots) so that she doesn't get use to it. Wet food can stick to the teeth more which can cause dental disease or may worsen current dental disease so you may want to stick to just the hard kibble unless your veterinarian has recommended extra water be added to his diet due to a medical condition (such as kidney disease for example).

Hello and thank you for your questions about Lady. If lady will only eat the dry food but you are concerned she will not drink enough water, you may try adding warm water to the kibble. If she will eat it that way, then you know she will get the extra water as she eats. You may also try a different brand to see if she will eat their senior canned formulas. I recommend to stick with other high quality brands like Royal Canin and Purina ProPlan. Eukanuba and Nutro are also good brands. If she will eat these diets, you could mix water with the canned food and add it all to the dry food to almost create a soup. Hello, given that it has garlic in there, it would not be safe to give to your dog. Garlic in certain amounts can cause GI upset in small amounts, but in severe amounts it can also cause anemia.
