Can I add chicken broth to my dog's kibble? Is dry food enough?

It is fine to use some of the chicken broth for flavoring on dog food. Just make sure there was no aggressive seasoning or excessive salt used. The best broth for dogs would be non seasoned or low salt broth. Also you would want to skim out the fat if there is a lot of it or let it set up in the fridge first so you can remove the larger fat layer. Giving cooked chicken is also no problem as a treat. Diamond dry food is fine to feed. You can use low sodium chicken broth to soften the food. Apply the broth and just let it sit on the food for about 5-10 minutes before feeding to allow it to expand the food before she eats it. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

The dry food is more nutritionally balanced but you can add things to it to make it more exciting. You can add any of the above ingredients you use to feed her in her fresh diet. I would advise to only add one at a time (ie...one day its peas, another day chicken, another day carrots) so that she doesn't get use to it. You can also add warmed chicken broth, a table spoon of a canned dog food or the ground up loaf type dog foods like Fresh Pet. You can also feed diets like Fresh Pet as they are fortified to include all the micronutrients that Soska needs. I hope I have answered your questions. Please post again if you think of any more!

I would keep decreasing the amount of beef broth you put into her food until she is eating the dog food alone. She really should not be having it, so it's best to try to wean her off of it. The problem with bouillon cubes is that they are VERY high in sodium. 1 cube has almost the recommended amount of sodium for a human for an entire day! So, I think you are going to have to find another option long term. There are a number of companies that are making "gravies" to put over dog foods. There are also companies that are making "toppers" to add to food. I would recommend going to your local pet food store to see what they carry and trying a couple of options to see what Epic prefers. You may also consider changing foods or adding something like a dehydrated dog food to his diet (like The Honest Kitchen) in case he needs a little variety. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Onions can be bad but broth is diluted with other flavors so there is not enough in that amount to be a problem. Chicken broth is a better alternative to use. You can also try baby food as it has more flavors!

Hello. I do not think there is anything that gives us more pleasure than cooking something special for our pets. There is absolutely nothing wrong with adding a little chicken, brown rice & sweet potatoes or pumpkin to her kibble, as long as the majority of her diet is the dog food. Dog food companies go through some rigorous testing to make sure a diet is healthy & more importantly, balanced, which is almost impossible to do with a home cooked diet.
