Is it safe to vaccinate my recovering kitten during an outbreak?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 25 days old | 1.2 lbs

There's someone who threw away this kitty last week in front of my house. She is now 0.520 Kg today and 2-3 months old. She was diagnosed with extreme malnutrition, worms infestation, fleas infestation, and dehydration last week. Now she is getting better. Her feces is in good condition and she has great appetite. But there's a panleukopenia outbreak near the area that I lived. I heard the safest way to protect my kitty is through vaccination. But is it really okay to get her vaccinated?

As long as Maki is improving and no longer sick, she can receive vaccinations. However, she needs to be around 6-8 weeks old to receive her first vaccinations. If you are unsure of her age and think she is around 2 months then I would wait 2-3 weeks before commencing vaccines. Hi, I'm sorry to hear Panda is having problems. Vomiting and diarrhea can be something simple like sensitivity to food or something more serious like a disease called panleukopenia. Vomiting and diarrhea is never normal in a kitten and should be investigated by a vet. Once the vet gets him healthy, then he can get his vaccines. he will need his FVRCP vaccine (which usually starts at 3 months), then a booster vaccine three weeks from that date. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I do NOT recommend vaccinating a kitten who seems anything other than healthy. If Brittany has an infection or depressed immune system, she may not be able to mount a proper response to the vaccine so it may not be worth doing. Or worse, it could be more than her immune system can handle at this point and it could make her feel even worse. Save yourself the trouble and wait until Brittany is feeling 100%. Is it safe to vaccinate an 8-week-old kitten weighing under 2 lbs?

I would recommend scheduling s veterinary check up, vaccines are typically based on age and health status though their size can play a role in it.but she should be checked for parasites possibly feline leukemia tested by this age. If she's healthy the vet will discuss with you her vaccine schedule.

Kitten had tapeworms. How to prevent & when can I vaccinate her?

Once tapeworms and the accompanying fleas are treated, the tapeworms shouldn't come back. Cats get tapeworms from eating infected fleas while grooming, though I would recommend a repeat treatment in 3-4 weeks just to be sure. I start vaccinating kittens between 6-8 of age, so now is the perfect time to start. I would recommend starting as soon as possible to make sure that she is adequately protected. Kittens get boosters every 3-4 weeks until 1 shot after 16 weeks of age.

Is my unvaccinated kitten safe around an unvaccinated outdoor cat?

Because Jiji hasn't been vaccinated before, she will need at least two rounds of vaccines given four weeks apart in order to have full immunity. Vaccinating her on Monday will not be enough to protect her. Make sure your dad fully cleans the room, and bring your own food and water bowls as well as litter box so that she doesn't share anything with his cat. Keep your kitten in the room, and allow her to have no contact with the other cat. I do recommend getting her vaccinated, so have her seen by the vet on Monday to start the process. Best of luck!

My cat got sick after a vaccine. Should I delay her next shot?

I'm glad to hear that Kitty is feeling better again! If her vet examines her and says that she appears healthy, there is no reason to delay her vaccine. Vaccinations are effective when given 3-4 weeks apart so that there is appropriate stimulation for both short term (IgM) and long term (IgG) antibody formation.
