Is it safe to vaccinate my kitten while she's on antibiotics?

Hello, thank you for your question about Havoc. As a general rule most veterinarians do recommend waiting until a pet is fully healthy before giving vaccines. That way we know the per’s immune system can respond to the vaccines fully and appropriately because it is not currently dealing with any other infections. Hope this helps!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I do NOT recommend vaccinating a kitten who seems anything other than healthy. If Brittany has an infection or depressed immune system, she may not be able to mount a proper response to the vaccine so it may not be worth doing. Or worse, it could be more than her immune system can handle at this point and it could make her feel even worse. Save yourself the trouble and wait until Brittany is feeling 100%. Yes this should be fine as long as she is feeling better. Also, you may consider putting her on a daily immune boosting vitamin like viralys or vetriscience lysine treats. It doesn’t treat the virus but it may help to boost her immune system. I hope this helps!

As long as Maki is improving and no longer sick, she can receive vaccinations. However, she needs to be around 6-8 weeks old to receive her first vaccinations. If you are unsure of her age and think she is around 2 months then I would wait 2-3 weeks before commencing vaccines. They are safe to use together however clavamox has a high rate of causing nausea/loss of appetite too. Of course consult with your veterinarian as I do not know what condition your little baby has and one of or both of those may be uneccesary. With all of these antibiotics I also definitely recommend a probiotic like benebac gel. Best of luck to you and the kitten!

I would recommend taking Soot back to the vet. If he hasn't been on antibiotics in 2 days then there may be another reason for the vomiting. He needs a full exam and possible diagnostics to determine the cause of vomitting and approriate treatment. Syringe feeding him while he is sick and nauseated is unlikely to be successful. A lot of the viruses that cause resp infections will stay in the system and recur intermittently. I would wait until the kitten is cleared up again as the immune system is currently preoccupied and wont be able to process the vaccine optimally.
