Kitten had tapeworms. How to prevent & when can I vaccinate her?

At this age I would recommend boostering based on the vaccine insert recommendations: typically 3-4 weeks. It’s best to deworm based on the results of a fecal analysis which your vet could perform. Otherwise broad spectrum deworming is typically recommended at 2,4,6 and 8 weeks. If your kitten has never been dewormed you could probably give a dose now and repeat in two weeks. In my area pyrantel would be the dewormer of choice.

Kittens are old enough to be vaccinated for the first time at 6-8 weeks of age. Flea treatment depends on the product, as certain products can only be used when the kitten reaches a specific age. I don't recommend flea collars, they generally are pretty poor products. You can use Revolution, which is a spot on flea treatment, on a kitten at least 6 weeks of age.

Other things you can do at home include feeding a high quality kitten food, checking their urine and stool output and getting them used to being handled. Becoming well socialized is very important! Tapeworms are killed by a medication called praziquantel, which is prescription only. A dewormer containing that can only be gotten at the vet. A great deworming medication is Drontal which kills tapeworms, roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. OTC dewormers will only kill roundworms, whipworms, and hookworms. Personally I always recommend a deworming medication from the vet, as they are stronger and better than anything you get OTC. Drontal is safe and healthy for kittens. Bambi should get a dewormer now, and another in two weeks. After that she will need to be dewormed monthly until she is six months of age, and then every three months thereafter. It's perfectly safe to give them a deworming medication even if they don't have worms, it prevents them from occurring. I never recommend getting OTC flea and tick medications. Many brands of them, such as Hartz, are terrible products that do not work and can have serious side effects in cats. I personally recommend getting a flea and tick medication from the vet such as Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution. When you make an appointment with the vet to get her vaccines, you can also get the deworming treatment as well as the flea and tick medication. I hope this helps!

As long as Maki is improving and no longer sick, she can receive vaccinations. However, she needs to be around 6-8 weeks old to receive her first vaccinations. If you are unsure of her age and think she is around 2 months then I would wait 2-3 weeks before commencing vaccines.
