My cat got sick after a vaccine. Should I delay her next shot?

If Brittany has an infection or depressed immune system, she may not be able to mount a proper response to the vaccine so it may not be worth doing. Or worse, it could be more than her immune system can handle at this point and it could make her feel even worse. Save yourself the trouble and wait until Brittany is feeling 100%. Vaccines for kittens should be given 4 weeks apart. It is best to stay as close to that schedule as possible and can be difficult this time of year due to the holidays. If waiting until January is only a week behind, it will be fine. If waiting that long pushes them several weeks behind, then it is best to do them. At their ages this should be the final round

As long as Maki is improving and no longer sick, she can receive vaccinations. However, she needs to be around 6-8 weeks old to receive her first vaccinations. If you are unsure of her age and think she is around 2 months then I would wait 2-3 weeks before commencing vaccines. Yes, it should be fine if you need to wait a little bit to give a booster vaccine, especially if your cats have been kept up to date on all of their vaccines prior to this. If you are unsure you can wait, your vet can also perform a titer test to check for antibodies, or can let you know if you are on a one-year or three-year vaccine schedule.

This can be normal. Getting vaccines can cause a cat to feel off for a couple of days. I'd just keep an eye on Baby for now. If you see a lot of vomiting, diarrhea, severe lethargy, facial swelling, hives, or difficulty breathing, that is not normal and she will need to see a vet immediately. It sounds like Lilly may have had a delayed hypersensitivity reaction to one of her vaccinations. You should call your vet and mention it so that in the future, they can give only vaccine at a time and/or keep her at the hospital for the day when she is getting vaccinated so they can watch her. As long as she is back to normal now she should be fine. If she still doesn't seem right to you tomorrow you should get her back to your vet for a recheck exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

This will depend on why your kitten is on antibiotics. Usually a pet on antibiotics is ill and since only healthy animals should be vaccinated to ensure that the entire immune system is trained, it is advisable to wait with vaccinations until your kitten is healthy again and off the antibiotics.
