Why does my senior cat vomit dark liquid every morning after eating?

Oh no, poor Chi Chi! It's quite serious that she is vomiting most mornings, and she could be suffering from liver disease, kidney failure, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, or cancer among other causes. I would have Chi Chi seen by a vet sooner than next week if possible, and I would recommend having a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis done to survey her organ function and check for the diseases I mentioned above. Missy is definitely feeling bad, which is why she is hiding. The brown vomit is somewhat concerning and indicates that she has some sort of irritation to her stomach. This can indicate an infection, blockage or toxin reaction within the stomach and/or intestines. It could also be secondary to another disease condition affecting the kidneys, liver or gall bladder. Sometimes these things can be temporary, but I wouldn't wait longer than a day to see if Missy gets better on her own. It would be best for a veterinarian to check her out, so they can determine the cause, and/or at-least give her something to feel better. I hope that helps and Missy gets better soon.

With Sasha's age and the consistent vomiting, I am concerned that she may have something systemic going on. Quite commonly I see kidney disease in older cats and this can cause consistent vomiting. There are also other conditions such as GI inflammatory disease that can lead to persistent vomiting like you are seeing. My best recommendation would be to have a veterinarian examine Sasha and have her blood tested to start with. This will help rule out multiple potential causes of what you are seeing. Hi. There are many possible causes for vomiting from primary GI to secondary GI causes. If blood work or x-rays didn't get us many answers, I would move forward with an ultrasound as that much vomiting isn't normal. I would also recommend asking your veterinarian for a prescription bland diet during this time. Good luck

Poor Sweetie! In older cats, I would be concerned that the vomiting is caused by kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, a foreign body, or intestinal lymphoma. I would take her into the vet first thing in the morning. The vet can do a physical exam, routine blood tests, a urinalysis, x-rays, and possibly an ultrasound to determine what is causing her vomiting. Once the cause is found, the vet can recommend a possible treatment.

It is not normal for a cat to vomit that frequently, so your cat may have inflammatory bowel disease or another type of chronic gastrointestinal disease. Since it has been going on for so, a diet change may not be enough at this point. The ideal situation would be to have your veterinarian do some testing to determine what is causing the vomiting. If that is not an option, then I would discuss treatment options with your veterinarian. There are a number of medications that may be able to resolve the vomiting. Good luck! Wednesday could be having many different issues that could range from a virus to pancreatitis. I would try to feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice. Make sure she is drinking water and observe her for any further vomiting/diarrhea or lethargy. If she is continuing to be sick tomorrow, I would recommend to take her into the vet for an exam and some bloodwork. The doctor can also give her medicine to help her feel better.
