Why is my senior cat vomiting daily, losing appetite, and air chewing?

Persistent vomiting and refusal to eat is concerning, especially in an elderly pet where they may be weight loss or dehydration. Given the clear blood work i would be concerned about a possible obstruction, hairballs, tumours or a twisted bowel are all possible. Xrays may be recommended as well as tube feeding to maintain calorie intake until a diagnosis has been reached

With Sasha's age and the consistent vomiting, I am concerned that she may have something systemic going on. Quite commonly I see kidney disease in older cats and this can cause consistent vomiting. There are also other conditions such as GI inflammatory disease that can lead to persistent vomiting like you are seeing. My best recommendation would be to have a veterinarian examine Sasha and have her blood tested to start with. This will help rule out multiple potential causes of what you are seeing. Hello, thank your question about Kianti. Based on the symptoms and the low B12 that you report I would be concerned that Kianti could have underlying GI disease. If he hasn't had one already I would recommend pursuing an abdominal ultrasound so that the characteristics of his GI tract can be evaluated. Inflammatory bowel disease is a not uncommon condition in cats that can lead to chronic vomiting. This is usually diagnosed by ultrasound and can be managed with diet and other medications such as steroids depending on the severity of the disease. Hope this helps, good luck!

I'm sorry that you are dealing with this with Laundry. There are a number of anti-nausea medications that can be helpful for Laundry. And if your veterinarian has not recently checked his blood work (including a thyroid level) and blood pressure, I would certainly recheck those values to make sure that they are normal. Then, you can discuss the best anti-nausea medication with your veterinarian to help Laundry feel better. Oh no, poor Chi Chi! It's quite serious that she is vomiting most mornings, and she could be suffering from liver disease, kidney failure, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, or cancer among other causes. I would have Chi Chi seen by a vet sooner than next week if possible, and I would recommend having a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis done to survey her organ function and check for the diseases I mentioned above. It is not normal for a cat to vomit that frequently, so your cat may have inflammatory bowel disease or another type of chronic gastrointestinal disease. Since it has been going on for so, a diet change may not be enough at this point. The ideal situation would be to have your veterinarian do some testing to determine what is causing the vomiting. If all his bloodwork was normal that rules out kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, etc. If your vet did not test for hyperthyroidism than a test should be done. An x-ray and/or ultrasound is defintely needed and will, hopefully, provide more information. He could have an infection, cancer, or obstruction/foreign body to name a few other possibilities. If he is not able to keep food down, I am not sure waiting until Friday is a good idea. He may continue to weaken and may become dehydrated. If your vet can't take an x-ray then you could consider taking him to an emergency clinic or another vet that can. An anti-vomiting injection may be helpfull if your vet didn't give him one.
