Why is my pregnant cat panting and meowing, but not pushing yet?

She wouldn't be uncomfortable or even nesting until the end of her pregnancy. And at that time it would be obvious: big belly, developed mammary tissue. If she isn't pregnant she could be in heat as they are more affectionate and vocalize more. Cats are only pregnant for 60 days, so if you still think she is pregnant you can take her to the Vet for an exam and X-rays towards the end of the 60 days to confirm. Otherwise if she keeps panting that is NOT normal in a cat and she should be seen. I wish you the best!

I would give her space and limit the number of people hovering around her and checking on her. Cats can delay labor when stressed. Leave her in a quiet room with a litter box, food and water. Provide a comfortable box or bed for her to have the babies. Check on her every few hours. Good luck!

Stage 1 of labor can last up to 24 hours, but I would keep a close eye on her. Once she starts pushing she should not labor more than 4 hours without a kitten. I would contact your veterinarian as a precaution and simply let them know what is happening.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would be sure Mochi is in a quiet cool place with out many people and other animals. When stressed cats can delay labor. I would leave her be and check on her every 30 mins. If she has been actively contracting for more than 2 hours with out a birth of a kitten I would have her seen by a Vet as that could indicate a problem. I wish Mochi the best!

This sounds like an odd behavior. Did Watson have x-rays prior to having kittens to count how many she should deliver? It is possible that there is still a remaining kitten inside and that she is going back to her delivery area in an attempt to pass the remaining kitten. I would recommend that she be seen by a vet to make sure there is not one leftover.

She needs to see a Vet now, waiting until the morning is not advised. Is there an open emergency hospital or vet that has hours now? I do not know what shape Fruity will be in and if the kittens will be alive by the morning. I wish you add Fruity the best!

It sounds like this cat needs a c-section. Cats rarely have issues giving birth so there is definitely a problem. More oxytocin is not likely to help. I suggest you call the vet back and take her for surgery. If the vet is not available just keep the cat in a calm, quiet area until you can get to the vet in the morning.
