My cat is pregnant! What's the best care for her and newborn kittens?

The best tip i can give you for her health is to feed her wet and dry kitten food during the pregnancy and as long as she is nursing the kittens, other then that she will take care of all the rest. just make sure you have a quite place where she can feel safe to give birth.

The good news is that most mother cats are very good mothers, and we generally don't have to do much to help them. Despite them all getting along under normal circumstances doesn't mean their presence during labor won't stress Lovely. When cats are stressed during labor they can delay delivery of the kittens. She should be in a quiet room that is familiar to her. The number of people should be limited. With one person checking on her every few hours. As for after the kittens are born I wouldn't allow the other cats in the room without you. Again just because they get along doesn't mean that one of the cats won't hurt the kittens. At this point in her pregnancy, you should feed her kitten food. If she does turn out to not be pregnant, it will not hurt her to feed the kitten food right now. You will feed her this diet until the kittens are weaned and no longer dependent upon her for milk. The dry cat food is just fine for her. Do not give her anything like milk as this may upset her stomach. You should also talk to your veterinarian about deworming her for parasites. Some dewormers are safe to use in pregnancy and others are not so you will want to check what you have available with your local products. Please feel free to post any additional questions.

I would recommend to keep her indoors only since she is due to have the kittens any day now. Allow her to have plenty of space away from the other cats so that she can be undisturbed by them for a period of time if she chooses to be. Nesting boxes are great, but ultimately she will choose to whelp wherever she is most comfortable. Clean, quiet areas where she can be away from the other cats is best. I would feed her wet/canned kitten food during the last three weeks of pregnancy so she hass enough nutrition for making her babies grow properly. Oncee she has given birth you can keep feeding her the kitten food, so there will be an easy transition when the kittens will start to eat solid food at around 6 weeks. Find homes for them now, but do not give them away before they are 12 weeks old, as they will still need mama to teach them to be good kitties, to hunt, what is safe, what is not, etc. They will also need their siblings to play and play hunt and get coordination.

She needs food, water and a litter box or a place to go to the bathroom for basic care. As far as giving birth goes, provide her a comfortable resting place. Motherly instincts will kick in when it is time and she will take care of the babies for you. If she has a problem delivering them, then you will need to call a vet or find a shelter than can help you with her care. Birth is messy so make sure you have towels and blankets to change out so they stay clean and dry.
