How to keep my pregnant cat's newborn kittens safe from other cats?

Hello. Make sure your Momma cat has a quiet, safe & secure area to have her kittens, away from noise, other pets, & weather. You can begin feeding her a good kitten food ( dry or canned ) and continue the kitten food up until the kittens are weaned . This will give her extra calories to maintain her pregnancy & provide plenty of rich milk for her kittens. She will probably not leave her babies for the first couple of days, so make sure her litter box, food & water are close by. It is recommended that when a cat gives birth that she is in a quiet room of her own. It helps reduce stress, and female cats can get protective when their kittens are born. It's best to place Jess in her own room when she is close to giving birth and keeping the dog out of the room.

Pregnancy can be a very stressful time for animals, and it may be hard for your cat to be separate from her previous offspring. However, my recommendation would be to separate him from her so that he cannot suckle/breastfeed from her before her kittens are born. The milk produced at the beginning of lactation is very antibody-rich and important for the brand new kittens to ingest. There is also the possibility that the previous offspring could out-compete the brand new kittens for nipples if they are left together. The new kittens will need the most care and nutrition from the very beginning, and if he is allowed to suckle from the mom, the newest kittens may not get all of the nutrition they need. I would recommend to keep her indoors only since she is due to have the kittens any day now. Allow her to have plenty of space away from the other cats so that she can be undisturbed by them for a period of time if she chooses to be. Nesting boxes are great, but ultimately she will choose to whelp wherever she is most comfortable. Clean, quiet areas where she can be away from the other cats is best. I would get Bissy and the kittens and put them in a spare bedroom closet. Use a laundry basket, cardboard box or a large dog carrier with towels. Put her food, water and litter box in the room. Keep people, other animals and children away from the kittens. Have one person she is close with check and weigh the kittens daily. Also keep the bedding clean. In a week or 2 start socializing the kittens and see if you can let Bissy out of the room. I wish you the best!

I would move your heavily pregnant cat to her own room away from the kittens so she can focus exclusively on her kittens. I'd place her in her own room with her own food, water, litter box, and whelping box.

If the male cat is irritating your pregnant female the best thing you can do is to keep them separated until after the kittens are born. It should not affect the kittens if they are around each other but it may lead to undue stress for your female cat. If you are unable to safely separate them at home you may want to consider boarding the male cat or having him stay with a friend or family member until the kittens are born.
