My pregnant cat is due. How to help her nest and feel secure?

Hello, it may be hard to get her to change her nesting location. They ideally want a private, quiet, location where they feel safe. It’s probably why she preferred your closet, therefore, providing her with a close alternative may change her location. Alternatively, you can put something in your closet to prevent her from coming in or keep the closet doors shut. Ultimately, you may not be able to fully avoid this and could maybe get her a basket or some other form of container where she can have her kittens that whay your closet could remain clean. If she is underneath a closed in cupboard and the clothes are not piled on top of her directly it may be best to leave her be unless you have any indication of distress; if you do need to disturb her then I would move her completely to a safer space such as an ensuite or small, quiet room where she can be observed but not disturbed. Lying a cardboard box on its side and leaving two of the flaps down so she can tuck in and hide creates an enclosed, temporary nesting area for her to hide and settle - provide some soft bedding so she can create a nest for herself

Hello. Make sure your Momma cat has a quiet, safe & secure area to have her kittens, away from noise, other pets, & weather. You can begin feeding her a good kitten food ( dry or canned ) and continue the kitten food up until the kittens are weaned . This will give her extra calories to maintain her pregnancy & provide plenty of rich milk for her kittens. She will probably not leave her babies for the first couple of days, so make sure her litter box, food & water are close by. I would move your heavily pregnant cat to her own room away from the kittens so she can focus exclusively on her kittens. I'd place her in her own room with her own food, water, litter box, and whelping box.

Despite them all getting along under normal circumstances doesn't mean their presence during labor won't stress Lovely. When cats are stressed during labor they can delay delivery of the kittens. She should be in a quiet room that is familiar to her. The number of people should be limited. With one person checking on her every few hours. As for after the kittens are born I wouldn't allow the other cats in the room without you. Again just because they get along doesn't mean that one of the cats won't hurt the kittens. Put Momma in her own room with a nesting box, food, water, and litter box. She needs peace and quiet, and the dog should have no access to her. This humping will stress her out, which she does not need now.

You really need to keep them separated - I agree 100%. I would put mom and kittens in the kennel but you need to make sure that mom has access to a litter box and her food/water and as the kittens get a bit older she will need to be able to get up and walk away from them at times during the day or they will drive her nuts. So, she cannot be in there until the kittens are weaned. I would say only for a week or two (maybe up to three). I don't know what the situation is, if you bred the cats on purpose or if they got pregnant by accident or what but please keep in mind that if you don't have the appropriate facilities for cats to be queening then you should get them spayed. This situation of trying to keep them separated is going to cause you a major headache. Also, keep in mind that will come back into heat sometimes almost immediately after queening so they can get pregnant again if there is a male cat in the house that has access to them or if they get outside.
