My pregnant cat is limping and in pain. Will she be okay giving birth?

Hi. It is impossible unfortunately to say without exam and further diagnostics to know what her limping is from. The most common cause is an injury, usually of soft tissue such as muscle, tendons, or ligaments. Other potential causes of lameness include arthritis, fractures, abscesses, infection, foreign bodies in paws, ingrown nails, and many more. Milo shoukd get a full exam, and they most likely take some x-rays, possible bloodwork, and some pain medications. Good luck.

Ideally pain medications should be continued for a week or more based on how the cat is doing. There is some what of a risk to the unborn babies giving pain medications so care is warranted. If Paris is lame and painful, she should be physically examined by your veterinarian. An exam and possibly x-rays may provide a diagnosis. Afterwards, pain medication can be dispensed or administered by your veterinarian if indicated. Restrict her activity, if possible, until she sees the doctor.

What a surprise! Fortunately, the recent surgery should not cause any problems at all with the kittens - there is no reason that she shouldn't be able to have them normally. If her paw seems painful, I would definitely recommend giving your vet a call in the morning to let them know that she's uncomfortable - he/she should be able to prescribe some additional pain medication for the next few days.

It's normal for a cat to purr loudly, she's likely showing you love and affection. The limp tail may be due to a previously broken tail, and if there was nerve damage, it could interfere with birthing. It would be best if she was seen by a vet. Hi there. Sorry this happened. You CANNOT give a cat any over the counter pain medication like aspirin, ibuprofen, etc. Please don't do this. Cats are extremely sensitive to these medications and you can cause her severe damage (even death) if you give her any of these medications. I know you want to help her but she will need medication from a vet. Vets have medications that are specific for cats that work amazingly well. So, my recommendation is to get her to a vet for an exam and they can prescribe some pain medications for her. You could always catch her and the kittens and take them to your local shelter. Hello, Depending on the extent of Chinnu's injuries, it may not be possible for her to deliver kittens on her own or walk again. It can take time to fully realize the extent of spinal cord damage.
