My pregnant cat fell, can't use hind legs, and isn't delivering.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am sorry that you and Bijoux are going through this! She really needs to see a Vet. There are low cost Veterinary clinics in some SPCAs. Cats are sometimes miraculous healers but it has been so long. She may just need it splinted. But if splinted she would absolutely need to be crated in a large dog crate for 6-8 weeks and not allowed outside. If it can't heal with a splint it may need to be amputated. Cats can live a long happy pain free life with 3 legs. Allowing her to be outside and walking and jumping on a broken leg for sure isn't going to help it heal. I hope you can find some help for her. Since she is pregnant sedation may have to wait until at least the kittens are born. Good luck!

You should have her seen by your veterinarian and hopefully he can give her medication against the pain. Pain is stress and can cause her to have her kittens early. I think it is also important to check whether she was hit by a car or whether the kittens were hurt in the process of the injury to her leg. Please take her to a veterinarian ASAP.

Hi there and thanks for posting. Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear Kitty was lost for a few days. That had to be very stressful. Also, I am sorry to hear she came back with a few medical issues. It is hard to say what exactly is going on with Kitty without examining Kitty first, but from your description it seems like Kitty may have injured her pelvis, spine, or rear limbs that may be causing her to not urinate properly or defecate as it may be painful for her or she has some neurological deficits disabling her to have control of her bladder. She could also have a urinary tract infection causing the straining to urinate as well. I would recommend visiting a veterinarian clinic soon so she can get some x-rays and a neurological exam in addition to a regular physical exam. Ideally pain medications should be continued for a week or more based on how the cat is doing. There is some what of a risk to the unborn babies giving pain medications so care is warranted. Ultimately she will be fine! You guys saved her and her babies! Have a great day!

From there, pain medication will be prescribed to help her feel better. In the meantime, do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to cats. She may have injured herself when she jumped from the balcony. Also is she was bred the male may have bitten and scratched her which could cause an infection. Either of these things could cause her symptoms but regardless it sounds like she needs veterinary care right away. They will examine her and perhaps take an X-ray to check her rear legs and check her for a fever. When they know the exact problem then they will give her the appropriate treatment.
