My kittens are weak and can't move. Is Panadol toxic for cats?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Panadol contains Acetaminophen which is extremely toxic to cats. Whether Kattu with be ok depends on his weight and the dose that was given to him. At toxic doses it causes an issue with red blood cell oxygen carrying abilities and is seen with in 1-4 hours of ingestion and can last 12-48 hours or until death. Clinical signs include cyanosis (blue gums), difficulty breathing, fast breathing, depression, low body temperature weakness, facial edema, and/or edema of the feet. It can also cause liver toxicity, which can develop 24-48 hours after exposure. Clinical signs are jaundice, vomiting, abdominal pain and not eating. It can also rarely cause kidney damage 1-2 days later. Dry eye can devlop 48-72 hours later. Kattu should be hospitalized and be monitored at a 24 hour facility. I wish Kattu the best

No you cannot use panadol. It's toxic to cats, and even giving her one could be enough to kill her. Try to cool her down by wrapping her body in damp, cool towels. Offer her boiled white meat chicken (no bones) to eat.

Tylenol is highly toxic to cats, and should never be given to them! As little as one tablet of Regular Strength Tylenol contains enough acetaminophen to kill some cats. You need to take her into a vet immediately, this is a medical emergency.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am sorry to hear Tom isn't feeling well. He sounds like he could have intestinal parasites and his blood sugar could be low. I recommend offering him canned kitten food to see if you can get his strength up. You could try deworming him with something for hookworms and roundworms but he could have other worms that that medication will not treat. He could also have a contagious disease like feline leukemia, FIV, or FIP. Ideally, he needs to see a vet for an exam and tests. Good luck and kisses to Tom!

Cats have a decreased ability to metabolize acetaminophen in their liver, making them much more susceptible to poisoning than most other species. Even though your cat may not show any symptoms yet, its liver may have been damaged. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY You need to take your cat to a veterinarian now.

Unfortunately there are no pain medications you can give him. Many human ones are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. The best thing you can do for him is take him into a vet immediately to get this treated. Best of luck.

Do NOT give Ibuprofen to a cat or dog. It is highly toxic for them. If he has diarrhea only then try a bland diet of boiled chicken breast. But if he is Also weak., lethargic, not eating or vomiting take him directly to your vet he will need supportive treatment and investigation.
