My kitten ate Panadol. Is it toxic, even without symptoms yet?

Tylenol is highly toxic to cats, and should never be given to them! As little as one tablet of Regular Strength Tylenol contains enough acetaminophen to kill some cats. You need to take her into a vet immediately, this is a medical emergency.

No you cannot use panadol. It's toxic to cats, and even giving her one could be enough to kill her. Try to cool her down by wrapping her body in damp, cool towels. Offer her boiled white meat chicken (no bones) to eat.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Panadol (Paracetamol) can be very toxic at high doses for dogs. At more than 50mg/kg (for a 10kg dog this would be 500mg) it can cause eye trouble, and at 100mg/kg (for a 10kg dog this would be 1000mg) it can cause severe liver disease, kidney disease, and problems with the red blood cells. It sounds like the dose that Indy might have ingested could be very serious. I recommend trying to find a vet that is open and having Indy seen right away. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Poor Billy! It depends on the dose of Tylenol ingested. You can call the Pet Poison hotline to see if you know the number of pills and milligrams of the pills. Otherwise he should be taken to an open emergency vet right now. Cats can be saved from Tylenol toxicity if immediate action is taken. Sadly cats can not metabolize Tylenol and for Billy's weight of 10 lbs only 45 mg is toxic. Signs of toxicity are trouble breathing, vomiting, grey-brown gums, swollen face, neck or legs. If you aren't sure he ate Tylenol he could be having diarrhea for many reasons and if he feels urgency and is uncomfortable he could be vocalizing. Hello. I am sorry that your question was not addressed earlier, so I hope you have already taken your cats to the vet for decontamination & supportive care. There is really not very much information about this particular medication being consumed by a cat. It is basically progesterone, & we do know that higher doses can cause sedation, ataxia, anisocoria ( unequal pupils ) & disorientation. I found one documented source of a cat that consumed an unknown amount of progesterone, & all of the symptoms resolved over several hours with supportive care ( not identified, but probably included fluids & possible gastric decontamination with activated charcoal ). So if any of your cats are showing any of these signs, please have the cat examined by your veterinarian as soon as possible. If it has been several hours & everyone is looking & acting well, then you may still find the pill somewhere. But any concerns or doubts, please head out to your veterinarian.
