My kitten is getting fat. How much and when should I feed him daily?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 22 days old | 3 lbs

So I got oliver 2 months ago. I have been free feeding him but he's gotten a bit fat so I want to start scheduling when he eats. What time should I feed him and how much?

This is a great question! I see that Oliver is a kitten so it's not recommended to limit food since he is still growing, but it's fine to put him on a feeding schedule. On his bag of kitten food, there will be a daily recommended amount to feed him. Take that amount and divide it into two equal portions, one to feed in the morning and one to feed in the evening. I hope this helps :-)
