What's the best way to feed my kitten: free-feed or scheduled meals?

Great question! You have two options with feeding Uli. There will be a daily allotment of food to be fed on her food bag, and you can either leave the food out all day for her to eat whenever she wants, or you can divide it up into two equal portions. Give one of the portions in the morning and one at night. At her age, she should still be on a kitten formulated food. Once she is 12 months of age, you can switch her to an adult food. Hello. That actually does not sound too unusual. You can certainly offer her the canned twice daily ( my house kitty gets a spoonful morning & evening ), & then he is free to pick at the dry all day. MOST cats are good at self regulating & will not eat too much to become obese, but this is something to watch for as Aspen grows older. I can understand your dilemma here. You can try offering her 1/4 cup 3 times a day and see if his curbs her hunger. The food recommendations on the bag are more like guidelines. I would also recommend weaning her off the milk over the next week, because she is old enough where she doesn’t need it after 6 weeks of age. If Benji continues to grow & shows signs of obesity as she ages, then you can manage her meals, but it is almost impossible to overfeed a growing kitten. You should feed her kitten food, canned food if possible because it adds water to her diet since most cats don't drink a ton of water. This in turn helps promote good urinary and kidney health long term. You should get a high quality kitten food such as Fromm, Hills science diet, Royal Canin, Evo or Eukanuba.
