Why is my kitten twitching and drooling after eye surgery and meds?

One of the medications that we will use for eye pain in cats is called Atropine Sulfate. This medication is notorius for making cats drool profusely since the tear duct system is connected to the nose and mouth (so cats will taste the eye drops). This can potentially occur with other eye drops, but Atropine tends to cause the worst problems. The drooling your noticed this morning is likely related to her anticipating the taste of the eye drops (like a Pavlovian response where dogs drool when they anticipate their dinner). If her drooling response is making it difficult for her to tolerate her eye drops, I would recommend contacting your veterinarian to see how long she needs to take the eye drops and if there is an alternative available for her. The medication may have a bitter taste. When cats get something in their mouth that they don't want or like, they will drool profusely and foam at the mouth. If she will allow, rinse her mouth with cool water for 10-15 minutes. This may decrease drooling. Try mixing the medication into a bit of food and offering it. Once she eats it, you can feed the remainder of the meal. This may be enough to mask any bad taste.

I would be concerned about Zapatitos being nauseas, having infection or trauma inside the mouth or even a toxin if possible exposure. I would recommend taking her to a vet to have a good detailed exam to help narrow down why Zapatitos is hyper salivating. It is important to look under her tongue and make sure string is not attached causing a foreign body. Also you can look in her mouth to make sure you do not see any type of sores. Sometimes cats will chew electrical wires and get burns in the mouth or even have viruses that cause ulcers. All of these things can cause hyper salivation. I think a vet visit is best to help Zapatitos feel better as soon as possible.

Poor kitten! Excessive drooling like that can definitely be caused by nausea, as well as irritation of the mouth, throat, nose, or stomach. Getting into something potentially toxic or bad tasting, flea and tick treatments for dogs accidentally used on cats, or underlying illness can also cause foaming like this. I would definitely take him to another vet ASAP since it is so severe.

Flea spray can cause a reaction such as you're describing, especially if she ingests some of it, which cats will often do while grooming. Hopefully it's just a reaction to the taste of the spray, and will pass quickly. If it continues for more than a couple of hours, or if she becomes lethargy or unsteady, take her in to the vet immediately, as she could have a more serious reaction to the medication. Also, if the spray contains pyrethrin, have her seen immediately, as this is highly toxic to cats.

Drooling is a sign of ingestion of flea medication, and if Peanut Butter has symptoms that progress to lethargy, facial twitching, agitation, seizures, or vomiting, he will need to see a vet immediately. At the moment, I would flush his mouth out with cool water, and I wouldn't offer him any food. The watery eyes could be related to something different, such as allergies or an eye infection. This does appear to be a normal reaction to oral medication. Cats really do not like the taste of the medication and tend to drool and hold their mouth open. If this was to happen 20 minutes, or more after you gave the medication, then I'd be concerned that it is an adverse reaction to the medication. In that case, it would be best to contact your veterinarian. If the medication appears to be stressing her out so much that she is having labored breathing, then it may be worthwhile to change the way it is delivered.
