Should I worry about my cat drooling and breathing hard after meds?

While I think it is probably a reaction to the medication I don't necessarily think that it is a 'bad' reaction. Some cats react to the flavor of antibiotics or become stressed when the medication is administered which leads to drooling. This antibiotic could also cause nausea, but if Dusky isn't vomiting the drooling probably isn't related to nausea. You could try giving the antibiotic right after a meal to hopefully minimize any chance of nausea.

The medication may have a bitter taste. When cats get something in their mouth that they don't want or like, they will drool profusely and foam at the mouth. If she will allow, rinse her mouth with cool water for 10-15 minutes. This may decrease drooling. Try mixing the medication into a bit of food and offering it. Once she eats it, you can feed the remainder of the meal. This may be enough to mask any bad taste.

Foaming at the mouth in a cat after medication is typically a sign that the medication was either bitter tasting to them or it just wasn't pleasant. You can try the medicaiton again, giving it slowly this time and see what response Kitty has. If he foams again, then you can ask your vet if there is another flavor that you can get this medicaiton in, that is more tolerable for Kitty. Best wishes and take care.

One of the medications that we will use for eye pain in cats is called Atropine Sulfate. This medication is notorius for making cats drool profusely since the tear duct system is connected to the nose and mouth (so cats will taste the eye drops). This can potentially occur with other eye drops, but Atropine tends to cause the worst problems. The drooling your noticed this morning is likely related to her anticipating the taste of the eye drops (like a Pavlovian response where dogs drool when they anticipate their dinner). If her drooling response is making it difficult for her to tolerate her eye drops, I would recommend contacting your veterinarian to see how long she needs to take the eye drops and if there is an alternative available for her. It's not likely to be any of those meds that is causing the drooling, the two main options are kidney failure (common in old cats and in cats with hyperthyroidism) or a gum/teeth disease. i would recommend taking Sekani to the vet in order to get it checked, i recommend repeating a blood test to also check the kidney function.

If she didn't like the oral medicine, it could have caused her to drool heavily and twitch her head some, but of course without seeing her myself, it is difficult to say for sure. Since she is currently being treated for her eye, I would strongly recommend to have your vet take a look at her to see if there is any concern and if there is anything they can do for her.
