Will my kitten get sick if I give Clavamox on an empty stomach?

They are safe to use together however clavamox has a high rate of causing nausea/loss of appetite too. Of course consult with your veterinarian as I do not know what condition your little baby has and one of or both of those may be uneccesary. I would contact his veterinarian before discontinuing the medication. Be sure that Oliver has a meal before giving the medication as antibiotics can cause vomiting on an empty stomach. If he continues to have vomiting or diarrhea be sure to let his vet know and they may prescribe a different medication or something to give with the clavamox to help settle his stomach. You can get probiotics for cats at many pet stores, it may be worth starting him on this while he is on antibiotics. I hope Oliver is better soon. I would give the cerenia about an hour prior to the clavamox. Food should be given with the clavamox as well. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. I'm not sure exactly what is going on with your kitten, but Clavamox is given to treat many different types of bacterial infections, such as ones of the urinary tract. If your kitten is really dehydrated, bacteria can build up due to him not passing urine, leading to an infection. That may be why your vet prescribed the Clavamox.

There should be no problems giving them concurrently as long as they were prescribed by your veterinarian. If anything, together they may cause some loose stool. Try stimulating her with a warm, wet washcloth. Gently circle her back end until she defecates. Do this after each feeding. She should be getting KMR and you can start her on a gruel made of KMR and canned kitten food. Consider a probiotic such as Bene-Bac or ProViable to promote a healthy gut. If she doesn't improve in the next 12-24 hours have her rechecked by your veterinarian.

Hello. Thank you for reaching out to Pet Coach. I am not familar with the antibiotic that you specifically have mentioned. However, in the US we do use something that sounds similar, called Clavamox. Either way, all antibiotics should be given with food if at all possible to avoid upset stomach. Many cats have a reduced appetite when they have a fever, so it is not surprising that Haro Kitaru is not eating on her own. I am very sorry that she is feeling ill and has a fever. If you are able to give her a small amount of chicken or turkey baby food before administering the antibiotic that would be best. This will reduce the chance of causing an upset stomach. Clavamox can often make cats nauseous. You may want to talk to your vet about using a different antibiotic. The temperature of a cat's nose or ears can vary widely, and it doesn't often coincide with the ambient temperature. I have never diagnosed illness based on the temperature or moisture of a pet's nose! If you are concerned that Tikvichko has a low body temperature, I would recommend getting a rectal thermometer to take his temperature. Normal for a cat is 100-102.5*F
