Cat vomiting on Clavamox. How long before dose to give Cerenia?

I would contact his veterinarian before discontinuing the medication. Be sure that Oliver has a meal before giving the medication as antibiotics can cause vomiting on an empty stomach. If he continues to have vomiting or diarrhea be sure to let his vet know and they may prescribe a different medication or something to give with the clavamox to help settle his stomach. You can get probiotics for cats at many pet stores, it may be worth starting him on this while he is on antibiotics. I hope Oliver is better soon. Clavamox, like most antibiotics, can cause upset stomach, nausea and vomiting when given on am empty stomach. The nausea and vomiting may be decreased if you give it with food. Some pets will do just fine taking antibiotics on an empty stomach.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Trixie. Cerenia typically provides 24-48 hours of nausea relief in cats. So I would give it to her approximately 12 hours before her next dose of chemotherapy. This will give the medication plenty of time to start working as well as provide relief for many hours afterwards. I hope this information helps!

Yes, it is safe and necessary to give him an injection of Cerenia at this point as without it he will not be able to keep the other medications down. do wait 2 hours after the injection before you give him any oral medications.

Hello. This may have been a vaccine reaction & the Cerenia should have helped. However, we do sometimes need addition anti-nausea medication to get over some of these acute episodes. Often, I will also use Ondansetron if the vomiting persists even with additional use of the Cerenia. Of course, there could be some secondary issue going on & the timing of the vaccinations may have been coincidental. If Jojo continues to vomit, she may need additional Cerenia, & possible some fluids until her body heals. Make sure you stay in touch with your vet in case she does need additional treatment. Peaches is adorable! I would recommend calling your veterinarian. I have seen cases where they got an upset stomach the last day or two on the antibiotics and maybe now since she is no longer going to be taking them she will feel much better. They are safe to use together however clavamox has a high rate of causing nausea/loss of appetite too. Of course consult with your veterinarian as I do not know what condition your little baby has and one of or both of those may be uneccesary. With all of these antibiotics I also definitely recommend a probiotic like benebac gel. Best of luck to you and the kitten!
