Is Clavamox safe for kittens with dehydration affecting their kidneys?

I believe it is a safe antibiotic and does a good job for animals with urinary tract infections. I would continue the clavamox as prescribed by your Vet. They are safe to use together however clavamox has a high rate of causing nausea/loss of appetite too. Of course consult with your veterinarian as I do not know what condition your little baby has and one of or both of those may be uneccesary. With all of these antibiotics I also definitely recommend a probiotic like benebac gel. Best of luck to you and the kitten!

There should be no problems giving them concurrently as long as they were prescribed by your veterinarian. If anything, together they may cause some loose stool. Try stimulating her with a warm, wet washcloth. Gently circle her back end until she defecates. Do this after each feeding. She should be getting KMR and you can start her on a gruel made of KMR and canned kitten food. Consider a probiotic such as Bene-Bac or ProViable to promote a healthy gut. If she doesn't improve in the next 12-24 hours have her rechecked by your veterinarian.

Clavamox, like most antibiotics, can cause upset stomach, nausea and vomiting when given on am empty stomach. The nausea and vomiting may be decreased if you give it with food. Some pets will do just fine taking antibiotics on an empty stomach.

Ideally I would have Mittems checked out by your vet and have a stool sample checked for parasites. If he has roundworms it's also possible he has other parasites or coccidia as they are very common in kittens. An over the counter dewormer such as pyrantel or fenbendazole should be safe to give with Clavamox though.

Hi, amoxicillin can be used in kittens but how do you give it ? I have witnessed some owners doing more harm then good by administering oral medications to kittens. I would recommend to see your vet so they can be started with a more effective, safe and fast acting injection and then you can continue at home with some oral drops for example. The dosage in kittens would be 10 mg per pound for 5-7 days. Hope this helps,
