My kitten was bit by a cat, has belly wounds. What to do?

Poor kitten! I agree with you that this is concerning - in a tiny newborn kitten like this, a minor wound can cause internal injuries easily because they are so small and fragile. In addition, I would worry about this wound becoming infected and causing additional problems because of this. I would recommend taking the kitten to a veterinarian right away for an exam. Your vet can palpate the abdomen and may also take x-rays or do other testing if needed to determine if there are any serious problems. He/she can also prescribe an antibiotic to prevent infection of the wound.

I am so sorry for your cats injuries. Please take her to your vet to have these injuries cared for properly. These are too extensive for at home treatment. Until you can get her in to your vet for much needed wound management and antibiotics; it is best to clean this with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water to help antiseptically clean the area. You can also try shaving the hair around the wounds to help remove dirt from the area, but only do so if your pet tolerates it. This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). The area should be shaved first and washed profusely with clean water. Disinfection can be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths twice daily. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. This wound is very infected and needs extensive wound care as well as antibiotics and pain medication from your veterinarian. Smokey needs to be seen by veterinarian as soon as possible. Keep the area clean and dry and keep her inside until shr is seen by veterinarian. Do not give any human pain medication as it can be extremely toxic to cats.

Oh my. Poor kitty. Because of the pus and infection, this kitty will need to be seen by your vet to get kitty on prescription antibiotics. I would recommend taking this kitty in to the vet asap. Poor Babie! Wounds caused by other animals are very likely to get infected without treatment, so the best thing to do is to book Babie in with your vet. He may need sedation in order for the vet to see how deep the wound is, and will also likely need a course of antibiotics.
