My cat is lethargic with an infected stomach wound. Vet needed?

This wound is very infected and needs extensive wound care as well as antibiotics and pain medication from your veterinarian. Smokey needs to be seen by veterinarian as soon as possible. Keep the area clean and dry and keep her inside until shr is seen by veterinarian. Do not give any human pain medication as it can be extremely toxic to cats.

Snowball sounds like he has a nasty infected wound from the bite and the bacteria in the wound often makes cats feel very sick. Hot compress the bite area with a warm water/epsom salt solution as often as you can to keep the wound draining and open until you can get to the veterinarian for some antibiotics and pain medication. Not an emergency, but he'll feel much better if you can get the abscess open and draining and get some medication into him from the veterinarian!

Ouch, poor Eddie! Unfortunately, it's impossible to fully assess this wound's severity from a picture alone. The wound itself looks fairly large and appears to be covered in a hair-crusted scab. The challenge likes in how deep the wound goes under the scab, and if it penetrates into the tooth roots, jaw, or salivary glands. To answer your question, yes, Eddie does need veterinary attention. Since he's afraid of people, it's likely that he will need to be sedated in order for your veterinarian to examine this wound. Your vet will need to determine the depth of the wound, and at a minimum, will need to clip the hair around the wound and clean it with an antiseptic cleanser. I fully expect that they'll prescribe an antibiotic or give a long-acting antibiotic injection, as it's likely that this wound is also infected. Try to get to the vet as soon as you can - preferably within the next day. It's very possible your dog's illness is related to the cat bite. He likely has an infection since cat bites tend to seal over and trap bacteria inside to fester. I strongly recommend getting your dogs seen by your vet as soon as possible for an exam, wound care and probably antibiotics to help him heal faster.

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). The area should be shaved first and washed profusely with clean water. Disinfection can be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths twice daily. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking/scratching. Sudocream or zinc oxide cream can be applied on the wound after cleaning and drying it up. Keep him indoors and keep in touch for updates. Hi, I would recommend to have your cat checked over as she might need antibiotics and possible antinflammatories. Also it is worthy to have a look to see if it just a superficial injury or something more serious. Hope this helps !

He may have not escaped uninjured. It is possible he was bitten and is developing and infection or abscess. Cat bites can be difficult to spot. Ideally, he should be physically examined by your veterinarian. He may need antibiotics and pain medications.
