How to tell if my cat is a purebred Maine Coon or another breed?

Wow....he is totally adorable!!! He is larger than the average 6 month old kitten. At this age, the average kitten is usually 4-6 pounds. He does appear to have a long body and also some longer hair. These are characteristics of Maine Coone. It is certainly possible that he has Maine Coone genes...or he is just a very big domestic cat. He is so cute! I can't tell you based on pictures alone. A pixie bob usually has a shortened tail and I can't see his in the picture. They also have an orange belly. I suspect if you didn't get him from a breeder he is probably just a domestic short hair. Kisses to Keanu!

Wow! Coco is a beautiful cat! Its very likely that Coco has a few different breeds in her mix but my guess with those ear tuffs is that she has Maine Coon in there. She also has a triangular head so that makes me believe that Siamese is likely there are well. A company called Wisdom Health is developing a breed analysis genetic test for cats. Hi! Mars is super cute! As I am sure you are aware Maine Coon's are in general large cats. With that said, large does not equate overweight. It's difficult to assess ideal body condition from simply looking, you will need to put your hands on Mars. Ideally, what you want is to be able to see a bit of a wait taper behind his rib cage. You want to be able feel his ribs through a layer of fat. You shouldn't be able to count the ribs and they should also not be buried under so many layers of fat that you cannot feel them at all. She does resemble a maine coon. You can have dna tests done on cats to know for sure, there are plenty of labs offering kits online. As for car, the general care is the same but make sure and feed a high quality feed as she will hmget big. You will also have to groom her regularly.

What a handsome cat! Most Maine Coon cats are 16-20 lbs without being overweight. I’ve seen a few larger but they are not as common. Usually they will be full grown around a year old but may mature and fill out until they are two years old. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Fatman. It is possible that he part Main Coon. He appears to have a similar broad shaped skull. If his eye is bothering him, then I recommend that he sees a veterinarian. Eye disease can be painful and typically requires treatment. I hope this information helps!
