My cat looks like a Maine Coon. How to confirm breed and care for her?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 3 months and 23 days old | 5 lbs

I think my cat is half Maine coon and the other a tabby cat. I adopted her from a local humane society. She physically looks like a Maine coon from the pictures I looked at online.. I guess from what I was told she has the traditional look of a Maine coon but also has little hints of a tabby cat. How can I be sure? And if she is a Maine coon is there a different route of caring for that kind of cat. Or all care for cats are the same.

She does resemble a maine coon. You can have dna tests done on cats to know for sure, there are plenty of labs offering kits online. As for car, the general care is the same but make sure and feed a high quality feed as she will hmget big. You will also have to groom her regularly.

Wow! Coco is a beautiful cat! Its very likely that Coco has a few different breeds in her mix but my guess with those ear tuffs is that she has Maine Coon in there. She also has a triangular head so that makes me believe that Siamese is likely there are well. A company called Wisdom Health is developing a breed analysis genetic test for cats. The best way to tell what breed your cat is would be to do a DNA test. Unless you got the cat from a breeder, in which case you would know the breed, the cat is most likely a mixed breed. Tigger is a very handsome boy! Based on his appearance and his weight of 9 pounds, I would say that he is not a purebred Maine Coon. Maine Coons are quite large cats and have a shaggy coat. Cute cat! It would be hard to tell just by looks what breed she is, however I see some possible oriental background with the longer face, perhaps mixed with a domestic shorthair. The best way to find out breed is through a genetic breed test, which usually only requires a cheek swab that is then sent to a lab. It might be worth doing if you're curious about her breed!
