What breed is my rescued cat with long ear tufts? Is she a Maine Coon?

She does resemble a maine coon. You can have dna tests done on cats to know for sure, there are plenty of labs offering kits online. As for car, the general care is the same but make sure and feed a high quality feed as she will hmget big. You will also have to groom her regularly.

It would be hard to tell from photos alone as cats of many breeds can have similar markings, and mixed breed cats may take on the markings of another breed. There are some genetic/DNA tests available for breed panels that may be useful, otherwise it'd just be a guess without knowing your cat's parental history.

Tigger is a very handsome boy! Based on his appearance and his weight of 9 pounds, I would say that he is not a purebred Maine Coon. Maine Coons are quite large cats and have a shaggy coat. Tigger looks like he has a short coat, which is not characteristic of a Maine Coon. Based on the pictures you have provided, he looks like a domestic shorthair to me. Cute cat! It would be hard to tell just by looks what breed she is, however I see some possible oriental background with the longer face, perhaps mixed with a domestic shorthair. The best way to find out breed is through a genetic breed test, which usually only requires a cheek swab that is then sent to a lab. It might be worth doing if you're curious about her breed!

Wow....he is totally adorable!!! He is larger than the average 6 month old kitten. At this age, the average kitten is usually 4-6 pounds. He does appear to have a long body and also some longer hair. These are characteristics of Maine Coone. It is certainly possible that he has Maine Coone genes...or he is just a very big domestic cat.
