Will constant paw fluid buildup in my active kitten cause damage?

As long as the skin is healed and dry you should just monitor for any discharge/bleeding etc which would indicate infection. It is likley that complications will develop as he starts walkingand putting wieghton the stump and the bones of the leg may break through the skin covering - in such cases amputation is recommended to shorten the stump and prevent open sores and infection once e is more mobile and strong enough for anesthetic

It's hard to tell from the pictures exactly where the wound is and if it involves the claw itself. I would soak her paw in warm water (you can use a little epsom salts if you have it) to loosen the scab, then you can gently clean it with a warm wet washcloth. If you find that there is bleeding, then apply gently pressure for 15 minutes. Don't apply any topical medications as Luna will just lick them off. If the bleeding continues, or of the paw swells, or if there is a creamy or foul discharge, then she may need to go to the vet for examination and antibiotics.

It is hard to know exactly what is needed without an examination though this does sound severe enough that it warrants an evaluation by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check if further surgery is needed or possibly treat for a likely infection and most importantly start Selina on medications for pain as this is likely painful. Carefully cut off the plastic ring immediately. If he is lucky the circulation was not cut off completely. After cutting off the ring, inspect the area for injuries. If there is no open wound prepare some warm water (warmer than luke warm, but not so hot that it hurts) and dip the foot in it for a minute or two in order to encourage circulation. If you cannot take off the plastic or if you find a wound please take this baby to a vet or Pet ER today.

The picture is not very clear, but I see some crustiness and possibly some hair loss. I worry about ringworm (a skin fungus) with that type of lesion, because this is also a very common location for ringworm in kittens. It could also be some other infection or due to a scratch or bite. It is not normal though and to determine the cause, you would have to bring her into the vet for an exam. They can take a sample (if needed) and look at it under the microscope to find out what it is. For now, it's best to consider it contagious, because ringworm can be transmitted from cats to people. This is usually self-limiting (will go away on its own), but may need treatment if you start to see more lesions. You can wash it once a day with medicated shampoo labeled for cats (can be found at the pet store). This will help if it is an infection.

The only way to better determine Snit's prognosis of regaining use of the affected limb is through repeated neurologic exams. Based on your description, it sounds possible that Snit may be experiencing either radial nerve paralysis or a brachial plexus avulsion. While function of the affected limb may return, this is not the case for every cat and amputation may be considered in some cases. I recommend taking Snit to his vet regularly for neurologic exams to determine if there are any changes. If there is no improvement after 6 or more weeks, it may be best to discuss amputation as an option with your veterinarian. I hope that all goes well!

I agree with your veterinarian that the trauma could have caused nerve damage. Paws that don;t have the ability to move can be prone to injury and then amputation is needed. Nerve repair is slow. If you want to be as proactive as possible, I recommend to look into physical therapy for Scooby. A physical therapist will set up a multi-model plan that can consist of laser therapy, acupuncture and movement. I hope this helps and I hope Scooby recovers quickly.
