How to stop my 5-week-old kitten from licking its injured paw?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The first thing you need to do, is to stop Milo from licking the wound. Head collar will be best. Then you should clean the wound with warm, boiled water 2-3 times a day. However, if the would is swollen and thickened (it does look a bit like that on the photos), your Milo may need to be seen at your local vets to get a course of antibiotics. It is hard to say what happened, it could have been a piece of glass, barbed wire, metal sheet that cut the skin.

These look like bite wound abscesses that have blown out. More than likely Bella got in a fight with another cat. The wounds festered & abscessed out. You can clean them with a little peroxide, but she really needs to be on antibiotics. We do not always close these wounds with sutures, because they are usually pretty contaminated, but if severe enough, they may need to be. You can try placing an Elizabethean collar on her ( Cone of shame ) to keep her from licking the wounds. She is doing her best to help her wounds, but her sand paper tongue does not help with healing. You can find the collars at your nearest Petco. If it's not bleeding I would recommend getting an e-collar in order to put it around his neck, that will prevent him from licking it. take him tomorrow to the vet in order to get it checked as he might need a course of antibiotics to prevent an infection.

Obsessive licking can be caused by pain (such as arthritis), skin disease (such as a skin infection or allergy flares), or be psychological/behaviorally motivated. You can switch out her litter to something such as Yesterday's News so that it is not painful to walk on. I would also apply a topical ointment such as Sentry wound cream (can be found at Petco) and apply twice daily for 3-5 days. This should heal fine on its own. If you begin to notice swelling of the foot or pus coming from the area, then I would take her in to be seen by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. You could try keeping an Ecollar on Morgan to keep him from licking the area until it is fully healed. The skin may thicken as it heals. You can try using something like a Pawflex bandage, with will protect his food. You can get that off the internet, and I will give you a link to a site where you can buy them. Finally, you could consider getting a dog boot for him. While they are designed for dogs, there are ones that are for toy and small breed dogs that could fit Morgan's foot.
