My cat is still sick with nausea after vet visit. What helps?

Hello. This may have been a vaccine reaction & the Cerenia should have helped. However, we do sometimes need addition anti-nausea medication to get over some of these acute episodes. Often, I will also use Ondansetron if the vomiting persists even with additional use of the Cerenia. Of course, there could be some secondary issue going on & the timing of the vaccinations may have been coincidental. If Jojo continues to vomit, she may need additional Cerenia, & possible some fluids until her body heals. Make sure you stay in touch with your vet in case she does need additional treatment. If Ginger hasn’t shown much improvement then I think you should take him back in for a recheck appointment. He may need medication to help with nausea and/or xrays may be needed to determine what is causing the nausea. I would not recommend feeding him ginger tea. Destiny may be dehydrated from the vomiting. If the veterinarian did not administer fluids under the skin already, I would recommend calling the vet back and seeing if this is something that can be done or if it is something that needs to be done. I would also consider an anti-nausea injection. I hope this helps and hope she gets better soon!

I'm sorry that you are dealing with this with Laundry. There are a number of anti-nausea medications that can be helpful for Laundry. And if your veterinarian has not recently checked his blood work (including a thyroid level) and blood pressure, I would certainly recheck those values to make sure that they are normal. Then, you can discuss the best anti-nausea medication with your veterinarian to help Laundry feel better. They will not want to do a teeth cleaning on him if he is not feeling well, so be sure to have them evaluate Laundry and solve this problem first. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. I am sorry to hear your cat is not feeling well. If this medication was prescribed by your veterinarian and your cat is still vomiting despite the medication then I would seek veterinary care immediately. If the medication was NOT prescribed by your veterinarian then please do not give any more, and take your cat in for evaluation. You do not mention how old the kitty is-any number of issues could be going on. A foreign body obstruction in the intestinal tract, a gastrointestinal infection, dietary indiscretion, a cancerous process, even renal failure can cause the symptoms you have noted. Your cat needs a thorough physical exam and your vet May recommend some diagnostics such as xrays and bloodwork. I hope your kitty feels better soon.

Hello, and thanks for your question. I can't say for sure, but your oncologist may have been referring to ondansetron, which is often used for controlling nausea in animals undergoing chemotherapy. Hope this helps.

If Boxer is not improving and is not eating or drinking, I would recommend taking him back to the veterinarian for a recheck and having anti-nausea medications and fluids given to see if this helps further. If he continues to not eat, he may need a feeding tube if his liver becomes affected. I hope this helps! I would avoid giving Calpol as cats are very sensitive to this drug and can develop toxicity quite easily. There are safer fever reducers such as Meloxicam that you can have your veterinarian prescribe for you. I hope this helps!
