Is it safe for a cat to have multiple litters in a single year?

Cats go into heat multiple times a year, so Habia can potentially have a couple of litters of kittens a year. The only way to prevent this from occurring is to have her spayed. After Habia has her next litter of kittens, I would keep her indoors and isolated from intact male cats completely. Once the kittens are weaned at six to eight weeks of age, I would take her into the vet to have her spayed. This will prevent her from becoming pregnant again.

All I can say is that she definitely appears to be an adult (over 1 year of age). As for breeding, it is recommended that females not have a litter until at least 18 months of age although they technically can become pregnant and have a litter as young as 7-8 months old. They can continue to be become pregnant and have litters well into their early teens. Not recommended to do so but it is possible. Whether or not you should 'go for it" is entirely up to you. Yes, Pixie can get pregnant as soon as she starts cycling. Yes, it will stunt her growth a little as she is not fully mature yet. She will not mate once she is pregnant but may come back into heat once the litter starts weaning. Cats can be prolific breeders so I would highly recommend to have her spayed ASAP! I would recommend to spay her in the next 6 months if possible to prevent her from coming into heat again and potentially accidentally getting pregnant again.
