My cat got flea medicine in their eye. What should I do right now?

I'm sorry but I can't really give you advice on her eye without seeing her myself. I can tell you that eye issues are emergencies. If something doesn't look right you need to get her to a vet for an exam. If she is not blind already she can become blind from lack of proper treatment. Lubricant drops are not going to help the issue. Those drops are for "dry eye" and that is not only extremely rare in cats but it is almost unheard of in an animal this young. If she is having a reaction to something that got in her eye your vet will need to dispense the proper medication.

Drooling is a sign of ingestion of flea medication, and if Peanut Butter has symptoms that progress to lethargy, facial twitching, agitation, seizures, or vomiting, he will need to see a vet immediately. At the moment, I would flush his mouth out with cool water, and I wouldn't offer him any food. The watery eyes could be related to something different, such as allergies or an eye infection. He should see a vet as soon as possible. Poor Tikiii, It could have been from the shampoo causing eye irritation. You can use warm water to wash her eyes (or you can purchase eye wash solution for humans from the drug store) to rinse her eyes. They should return to normal in 24hrs, but if she is still holding them shut or they look irritated still, you should take her to the vet and they might test her for injury to her corneas (outer surface of the eye) called a corneal ulcer. A simple eye drop that is soothing and safe is called "BLINK CONTACTS" - this is also available a the drug store.

Poor girl. Yes I do see the swelling there of the left eye. She may or may not have scratched her eye b/c of the fleas, but it definitely isn't helping the situation. You will unfortunately have to visit your vet to get the prescribed medication she needs to have her eye treated for, because there are no over the counter eye meds for pets. I would recommend topical Revolution to prevent fleas in cats, this product is also given through your vet and is highly effective. I would also recommend treating your home for fleas with a flea fogger from your local Lowe's or Home depot. It could also be due to an eye injury of some sort like a corneal injury for instance or a corneal ulcer. Your vet prescribed a general antibiotic eye drop which also contain steroids, from my experience when both third eyelids go up into the eye like this, it is usually not an eye related disease, it's more likely to be an intestinal disease. if she has not been dewormed lately, i would recommend starting by deworming her, often it is the discomfort related to the worms in the intestines that is causing this symptom. once the abdominal discomfort will be over, this symptom will disappear.

I would stop using the ointment and wash it out until you can talk to your vet. Was the cat squinting prior to you taking her to the vet? Was the medication prescribed for that brown spot?
