My cat was dumped far away. Can she find her way home after 3 days?

Hi and thanks for posting- I am sorry to hear Gumble has escaped! Cats are very intelligent and also have very good navigational skills, so she may be able to find her way home, but it is hard to say for sure. If she is micro-chipped, anyone with a microchip scanner (vet's office, shelter, rescue organization, or police) will scan her for her chip number which can help bring her back home. I hope Gumble comes home soon!

Oh no. That isn't good. Cats are very unpredictable; therefore, I would air on he side of caution and feed the kittens if need be. If the kittens are less than 2 weeks of age you want to make sure they are also kept warm (but don't overheart) and I would recommend wearing gloves when handling them to avoid masking their scent, which can lead to mama cat rejecting them when she returns. It is a foreign place for her so she has an increased likelihood of getting lost or injured while outdoors. You can try to go searching for the Mama cat as well. Take a can of tuna with you to see if you can entice her to return. Also leave a way for mama cat to easily enter the house, if you can, just in case she returns and no one notices. Cats can go pretty far from home, especially females in heat. I bet Arya went out to find males with which to mate. I would ask people in the neighborhood if they have seen her, check local vet clinics, and locals pounds/animal shelters. You can put up posts around the neighborhood and on social media. I hope you find her soon! Should you find her, don't be surprised if she's pregnant. If she isn't, get her spayed to stop this behavior.

I am so sorry that your friend's kitten ran away! Unfortunately, it is possible that the cat may not return, but I recommend making posts on social media letting people know you are looking for the cat. You can also contact local vet clinics to see if anyone has found him, and to let them know you are looking for the cat. You can put up fliers if they let you in the clinic. Finally, you can contact the local SPCA to see if anyone has dropped off the kitten. I hope your friend finds their kitten!

Poor Golu. It is definitely possible that he got lost or maybe someone else started feeding him and that’s where he chose to stay. I am so sorry for your loss. Keep spreading the word that you’re looking for him and hopefully he will be found.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am so sorry about Moli! Outdoor cats, especially not spayed or neutered will wander. The fact she did return after 11 days makes be think that her being gone 2 days is too soon to say something bad happened. The risk to outdoor cats are: injuries from vehicles, other animals and finding her homes. The inured back leg could be from a fight, being hit by a car or falling from something. You can ask around and post fliers and see if anyone has seen her or know what might have happened. The only thing to do if she comes back is to have her spayed and keep her 100% indoors to prevent wandering off. I hope she returns soon!

She is probably just wandering around. However there are dogs out there, cars and possibly wild animals that can harm her. keep calling her. Hopefully she will come home soon. She is probably hiding somewhere and scared.
