My kitten ran away. Is it possible for a lost cat to return home?

I would contact veterinary clinics and bring the missing posters to veterinary clinics as well so that you can make it known to the many pet owners that frequent the clinics in the area. This may help you find your kitten. Unfortunately, it is also possible that someone found your kitten and thinks it is a stray and may keep it. I am sorry that you have lost your kitten and hope that you find it soon!

If she grew up as a stray, then I think she'll have a good chance of surviving. Cats do have a good sense of direction, so she might return. It's not uncommon that cats go for a walkabout for a day or two, then return. However, she also may be trying to get back to her alley home. If that is somewhat nearby, then I'd check for her there. It's also good to start hanging flyers in the neighborhood and check with local shelters. People tend to pick these kittens up when they see them. I hope that helps and your kitty returns soon.

I am so sorry Tux ran away! I have heard stories of owners who have been reunited with their missing pets months and even years after the pet has gone missing, so it's certainly possible that you can find him. Given that he's not neutered, I wouldn't be surprised if he's travelled far looking for females with which to mate. Intact males will roam far and wide to find females, so I would widen your search area for him. I will be hoping you will find it!

It is not unusual for a cat to come back home and they are good tracing back their way home. If he has a microchip you can check if he has been found at any of the local shelters. I hope he's ok! I'd say chances are still good at this point - I recommend keeping food out for him, and set his litterbox outside so he can recognize his familiar scent if he's become a bit disoriented. I hope he finds his way home!

I am sorry this happened to you. Most cats that are outside tend to roam about a 2 mile radius of their house to get back to their territory. So the chances of her getting back home at that distance is decreased. You have done all you can. All you can do is wait and see if someone spots her and keep checking the shelters. Make sure you actually go to the shelters as they are busy and have lots of volunteers that make mistakes on the phone about descriptions and what has been coming in.

Yes there is a chance. However I suggest you take the kitten inside your house. It is winter and it is very cold and cats need warmth and it is very small and needs a lot of love.. It will be much happier and you will have a friend. You will need a cat litter box.
