Why did my sick, injured cat return home, then disappear again?

Pet's info: Cat | Bengal | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 7 months old

My cat went missing few days back and returned after 11 days sick and thin and seemed that she had and injured leg...she was normal...ate her dinner...stayed over the night...had her breakfast the next morning as well as her lunch...and she behaved completely normal except that she had a bit difficulty in walking and no other complications...i made her sit on the table and within a few mins she was gone...and has not returned 2days have passed...i want to know what might hve happened to her ?

I am so sorry about Moli! Outdoor cats, especially not spayed or neutered will wander. The fact she did return after 11 days makes be think that her being gone 2 days is too soon to say something bad happened. The risk to outdoor cats are: injuries from vehicles, other animals and finding her homes. The inured back leg could be from a fight, being hit by a car or falling from something. You can ask around and post fliers and see if anyone has seen her or know what might have happened. The only thing to do if she comes back is to have her spayed and keep her 100% indoors to prevent wandering off.

Cats that go outdoors are more likely to suffer trauma from cars or fight with other cats and get wounds. Neutering may help the wandering. It probably won’t prevent fighting. He should stay updated on his vaccines and be dewormed regularly. Next time he comes in, keep him inside until you can get him to the Vet to have his injury evaluated. You can place his favorite food outside to try to entice him to come home and search the surrounding area. Maybe a neighbor has seen an injured cat. If there is a local veterinarian, ask if anyone has brought an injured cat to the hospital. I hope he returns home soon.

I hope Midnight comes back, but there is a chance she might now. Search the neighborhood and ask your neighbors if they have seen her. Check with the local SPCA to see if she's been picked up, and check with local vet clinics as well.

My cat was missing, now she's home. What to watch for before vet?

Poor Hazel. The main things I would look for is if she stops eating or starts vomting or having diarrhea. Cats that run off for a while may have been bitten or injured while gone. Although you don’t see any obviously punctures, I would watch for any swellings anywhere. An abscess could always form over the next week from a previous injury where the skin already healed. Let her rest but her activity should pick up after a few days of sleeping. I hope this helps and she has a full recovery.

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear about Golu. He probably roams because he is not neutered or altered. Male cats will roam extensively if they are not neutered. The testosterone drives them to seek out mates and reproduce. Neutering him would make him a lot less likely to roam. Pets have been lost for extended periods of time, even longer than this. It's possible that he could return home. It's also possible that he has been taken in by another family who is feeding him now. I hope he returns. Good luck

My cat went missing after moving. How can I find him and bring him back?

It is not unusual for a cat to come back home and they are good tracing back their way home. If he has a microchip you can check if he has been found at any of the local shelters.
