My cat fell from a height, looks okay, vet's closed. What do I do?

What a cute cat! If he is eating, drinking and using the restroom I would not be concerned. Some cats will fall far and land on their feet. At this point I would just monitor him for any sign of pain or illness. If he acts painful I would take him to a vet.

Take your kitten to a veterinarian as soon as posdible in the event of trauma like this. Many things can happen including broken bones, damage to the lungs, lacerated organs, etc. Many times they fall on their faces and have facial or jaw fractures. A full exam will be performed and xrays will likely be recommended. Hopefully your kitten is okay and some pain medication can be prescribed. I would continue to monitor Victoria for other wounds or possible internal injuries. 5 stories is quite a fall! And it may take a few days for other injuries to manifest. If she will let you, you can flush her eyes with a human eye saline solution. Maybe she got some dirt in her eyes. As soon as the vet is open, I would have her examined further. Do not put any medications in her eyes at this time.

If she seems to be fine then just be sure to keep a careful eye on her to ensure she hasn't injured yourself. While petting her, take care to run your hands over her gently to see if she has any swelling or seems painful anywhere, if so, I recommend getting her seen by your vet as soon as possible. As long as she seems normal, eating, drinking, doing her daily cat routine, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Oh dear, poor Meow! Since she is not moving, eating or drinking, my main concern is that she has experienced significant trauma in her travels, either from a long fall or being hit by a car. These traumatic events can cause major head trauma, rib fractures, or internal injuries that can be quite severe and painful. At this point, Meow needs to go to an emergency vet immediately for evaluation and treatment. I hope this helps and that all goes well!

When an animal is hit by a car sometimes there are injuries you can't see from the outside. They can bleed internally, herniate organs from the belly in to the chest, get contusions (bruising) of the lung or air can get trapped outside of the lungs (pneumothorax), rupture their bladders, brain trauma. Cats can also breath heavily when they are in shock. Sadly there is nothing that you can do alone. He needs a Vet to listen to his lungs and evaluate him for internal bleeding and shock. Just keep him warms and comfortable if you can't get him anywhere I wish you both the best!

It is hard for me to tell you what is going on without examining your kitten. There is the possibility for internal trauma from a fall that high in a very young kitten. I would recommend that you keep a close eye on her. I would be more concerned if the cough continues or worsens for 72 hours, or if she is not eating or panting more than normal. Keep her as still and calm as possible so that her body can heal. Kittens can heal very quickly if you can manage to let them do it!
