My cat fell, eyes red and wet. What to do until the vet opens?

Poor Angel! She needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as you can. Eye injuries should never be left to see how they progress. Vision can be lost very quickly without appropriate care. I am also concerned that Angel may have some other injuries that are not visible-the trauma needed to induce bleeding in the eye like she has could also result in significant head trauma and broken bones. Your vet will perform a thorough physical exam, including looking in Angel's eyes. There likely will be eye medications dispensed, and if your vet has concerns about head trauma they may recommend Angel stay at the hospital for monitoring or even special medications for brain swelling.

If you can't find any emergency vet in your area then you should just monitor him closely, the main thing to watch is the breathing and respiration rate (should not be over 35 breaths per minute), if he seems fine that is already a miracle, you will still need to take him to the vet once it opens to make sure there are no fractures or internal injuries.

Unfortunately there is nothing specific to do for an injured eye at home. You may want to try calling the vets office to see if they have after hours instructions for emergencies. Otherwise I think you should just keep Xander somewhere warm and quiet, and try to encourage him to drink water. I would not recommend trying to give any over the counter pain medications as there are no safe options for cats. Good luck!

If there is an emergency vet within a reasonable distance, I would recommend that Willie get checked out sooner than later. Eye problems can be very painful, and can go from bad to worse very quickly (even overnight). There can be many causes of squinting an eye, including something stuck under the eyelid, corneal abrasion or ulcer, autoimmune disease, among a few others. Without personally seeing it I can't be certain, but what you may be seeing with him "looking to the upper right" is the effect of a raised third eyelid covering the inner part of the eye to make it look weird. You can try to flush the eye with a saline eye rinse, but do not apply any medications topically. Keep him inside in a dim room since bright light makes many eye problems more painful.

Oh my. Your kitty is in dire need of medical attention. She may have an intracranial hemorrhage. Poor kitty. She needs to be seen right away for potential life saving treatment. If your kitten is acting normally now then I would not be too concerned. If however she starts acting confused, overly tired, is unable to see, or is walking abnormally, I would be worried about head trauma and she would need to be seen by your veterinarian.

I always lean toward being more careful with eye conditions. Even though you could likely wait 5 days, I would probably go to the emergency vet if it was my cat. And it is likely uncomfortable for Roxie, so I would like to get it treated. Eye conditions can become very severe very quickly, so I would have it evaluated sooner rather than later.
