My kitten is crying after declaw surgery. Is she okay in the bathroom?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 2 months and 15 days old

I feel guilty confining my kitten in the bathroom after her declaw. When I have a 1 year old cat to who is out with me and before the surgery they both slept with me. The kitten keeps crying and meowing in the bathroom. Will she be ok? What should I do. Rb the older cat also keeps going over to the door and just lays there checking on her.

Don't feel guilty, it's only for a short period of time. Marvel really has to rest or she could cause post-op complications that will lengthen her healing time. You are doing what is best for her. Go in and visit her often.
