Marvel cannot play with the other cat and he cannot have any running or jumping or else he may open up the incisions (he has 20 of them!). I do not recommend to let him sleep with you tonight in case he tries to jump off the bed. He needs to be confined to a small bathroom or a large dog kennel to prevent jumping. he should also use a paper or pine pelleted litter to avoid dust. It will take two weeks to heal in general. It is done with a blade or a laser which depends on the hospital. Most hospitals are getting away from declawing and are not offering it anymore. It is painful and behavioral issues (like inappropriate elimination) and chronic pain or even regrowth of the nail if not done appropriately has been seen. If you are going to declaw then it should be done with the spay and neuter when they are young. The dewclaws in the back may have been loosely attached which the operating veterinarian thought it would be best to have them removed. You would have to speak with the veterinarian to know for sure. Don't feel guilty, it's only for a short period of time. Marvel really has to rest or she could cause post-op complications that will lengthen her healing time. You are doing what is best for her. Go in and visit her often.

Be sure to provide plenty of water though. It will be a good idea to keep them separate after surgery so they can rest. They will rebound quickly, but they do not need for their bodies to heal. Increased pain and limping 5days after surgery may indicate infection in the wound, and she needs to be assessed by a vet for pain relief and possibly antibiotics.
