My cat's Clavamox is orange. Is this new batch safe to give him?

Yes, long term storage out of the foil would be a problem but for the short course of treatment they should be fine. They now have clavamox in chewable tablets that are easy to break and most pets love the taste. When antibiotics are ingested in toxic amounts, it can result in mild to severe signs ranging from gastrointestinal signs (e.g., drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, inappetance, discolored teeth), metabolic signs (e.g., skin lesions, liver failure, kidney failure, etc.) to central nervous system signs (e.g., tremors, seizures, death). I would advise contacting your local emergency vet hospital or contact Poison Control https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control Sorry this happened with your pet. I believe it is a safe antibiotic and does a good job for animals with urinary tract infections. I would continue the clavamox as prescribed by your Vet. If you are sure it was the Amoxyclav then it may have drawn some moisture. He will probably be ok. Should he show signs of discomfort or vomiting, then you might want to take him to your vet for an exam.

I would contact his veterinarian before discontinuing the medication. Be sure that Oliver has a meal before giving the medication as antibiotics can cause vomiting on an empty stomach. If he continues to have vomiting or diarrhea be sure to let his vet know and they may prescribe a different medication or something to give with the clavamox to help settle his stomach. You can get probiotics for cats at many pet stores, it may be worth starting him on this while he is on antibiotics. I hope Oliver is better soon. Hi Sharyn. Just wipe of the antibiotic from his nose, and gently rinse his eye with cool water, and he should be fine. If Tailz did get a little extra Clavamox, this likely won't cause any problems but you may see a little GI upset. I hope this helps.

I personally would use clavamox long term if it’s effective. Yes, there are less side effects. Then you can keep the clindamycin to use at some point in the future, if needed.
