My male cat is blind. Can he still mate and breed like other cats?

If not, I would recommend pursuing that to ensure he is at peak health for breeding performance. They can talk to you about testing his sperm quality, finding a queen of appropriate health, and what breed testing is recommended for him. The spikes you are seeing on his penis are a normal part of feline anatomy. They are used during mating. From the picture alone, I don't see any reason for him to be unable to breed. I would be concerned that a blind and a deaf cat may clash simply because they would not be able to predict each others movements by being unable to see/hear the other coming and could both be more reactive as a result. It may be worth fostering the new kitten for a trial period but I would recommend insisting that a swab is tested for infectious causes of eye disease prior to bringing her in as any condition which could be transmitted affect the vision of your blind cat would have a serious impact on her quality of life. Not all kitten eye conditions are infectious as birth defects are also possible

Unless you are positive you can help your friend find a proper home for every single kitten, I wouldn't recommend mating him. There is a great over population of pets in our world, and un-purposeful breeding shouldn't be allowed. I would recommend getting Milo neutered for his own health. I promise, he won't think he is missing out on something in life!

She will probably not let him come around her. A male cats penis has little barbs or spines on it so it won't be comfortable for her to let him mate her. Male cats can also spray their urine to mark their territory which is very smelly. I would recommend having him neutered. Good luck and kisses to both!

You need to go back to the vet who did the neuter and ask for the surgery report which should say whether only one testicle was removed or both. You can also have your cat tested (blood test) for hormonal activity which will then show whether he has a hormone-producing testicle left. If that is the case, I would go back to the original vet and ask him to remove the retained testicle. If he only removed one testicle he should have informed you and also told you that your tom was not neutered. Retained testicles can become cancerous as well.

If you have a female cat that has become pregnant, she must have been mated by another, intact male cat. I hope this is helpful!

Oh dear! I hate to disagree with your vet, but there's no evidence whatsoever that breeding is good for a cat's health. In fact, it opens them up to a much higher risk of disease and injury - so I would recommend having him neutered now, rather than waiting. If your current vet doesn't want to do the procedure, I would suggest checking with another vet in your area to see if you can find someone who will go ahead and neuter him. At 5 months old, he's plenty old enough to go ahead and have the surgery.
